Project: Doodle A Day ~Sweet and Door~

Day 15: Sweet

I didn't do a doodle yesterday even though I had the time to but I really wanted to read instead and I didn't think it would hurt to post two doodles today.

 

I decided I needed to really start decorating some envelopes in order to post some of the postcards out which I'm offering the chance for people to receive on my make my day blog along with other postcards that I have. If you would like any why not pop over and 'shout make my day!'

 

Anyway I thought of so many things that come under sweet but in the end I decided to go along the lines of taste. I've got laces, candy floss which I've only ever seen sold in bags and boxes but as a child when we used to go to the fun fair they would be sold on a stick, sweets and sugar cubes. On the back of the envelope I drew a bun.

 

Day 16: Door

I did think of many things with a 'door', a vehicle, a dolls house, a battery area on a toy etc... but I couldn't be bothered doing any of those and I didn't want to just draw your usual rectangle shaped door which is when I decided to focus on the letter box. I actually was going to do a simple side slot letter box next to the door but when I came across this design for a letter box I had to have it attached to the actual door and doesn't it look great. I'm such a fairy tale type of person as I imagine a beautiful black door with a gorgeous letter box, a plant on the doorstep and a climbing plant up the side of the house... oh and one has to have the picket fence right? I'd love the dulux style dog if only someone else would take care of him/her.  I love how this has turned out though :)

Project: Inspiration

I was meant to post this before my gambling one but in my excitement I got carried away and forgot which order I was doing things in.

When I went in to the city on Saturday I parked my car right outside this newly painted door. I loved the colour but also everything about the style and colour of the door. I was so attracted to it I had to post an envelope through the letter box super quickly as I could hear creaking inside and was worried about someone stepping outside whilst I was doing my deed. I'm really curious to know if this letter box is in use as there was one on the side also but I'll never know as I haven't had an e-mail.

I haven't actually had any e-mails yet and the curiosity is killing me of whether or not many of them have been collected since some are not in very obvious places and it could take months for someone to find it.

I did go to the supermarket today and check the book I had left an envelope in and it was still there! The thing is though I'd bought it home to change the e-mail address and had put it in a plastic wallet before putting it back. Someone had taken it out of the book, took it out of the wallet, ripped the seal off, read it and put it back minus bag and seal! The seal wasn't even on that hard as it had the tiniest amount of double sided tape on for that purpose. What really baffles me is that if you go to such an effort to open it then why would you not just slip it in your bag or pocket and take it home away from preying eyes.

Another envelope I haven't blogged about I checked that out today too and that one is still there a couple of days later too.... goodness...

Project: Inspiration

As the days go on, I'm getting more and more curious as to whether or not my envelopes have been picked up. I did go to the supermarket yesterday and checked the book I left the envelope in but no one had taken it. I was kind of disappointed but I was also relieved as it meant that I could change the e-mail address in it so that if someone decided to get in touch they could. I'm glad now that I decided to create an e-mail address as at first I was against it.

When I had originally thought of the idea of leaving envelopes stuck to a door, I had thought about someone's home but when I actually started making some of the postcards my mind went first to the Cactus man and then to this door. This one at least would have stayed dry yesterday because that arch way covers the entrance. Last night before I fell asleep I suddenly had the idea that I should have placed these in plastic wrappers, why is it these ideas drop by afterwards? It wouldn't have mattered then if it was left over night. I guess this is something I'll do from now on with all envelopes.

This is such a nerve racking experiment and I actually think my stomach is hurting from the tension of it as I want people to find the envelope by chance rather then because they saw me put it there and wondered what I was doing. Also I have a lot of cards still to make and each one takes at least half an hour but I think its worth it because its turned out to be exactly what I want but also I hope it has that 'wow' factor when people discover it.
