Project: Christmas Postcards

I can't believe it is Christmas Eve already, Where have the days and months gone? Next week we'll be starting a New Year! That is really quite scary but hopefully it will bring a lot of luck, happiness and good health for everyone!

Project: Christmas Postcard

I posted about a project inspiration I wanted to do but as I'm once again not feeling so great I decided there was no point in forcing myself to do it when my heart just isn't in it. I guess they'll have to wait for next year when I should be ready and hopefully feeling up to it. So for now I continue showing all the postcards I've sent out so far.

Project: Christmas Postcards

I know I need to be more creative with my titles, well I think I should anyway but its just so easy to put what project it is.

 

I'm almost done with posting all my packages and cards out... I was almost asleep last night when I remembered two people I put on my list but haven't got around to sending their cards out yet. It turned out that I didn't have any cards left that I'd made... oops! I was going to send a shop bought one to both of them but then thought its not fair that I've sent people on make my day one who never acknowledged receiving anything or reappearing again a handmade one and my actual friends a shop bought one as they put such effort in to their letters which is why we write such insanely long ones (between 15- 30 pages). I started making them when my niece turned up so I stopped and made some with her instead as I still have 2 blank cards for her. She's always insisting that we bake or create something but I really lack the energy and at times the motivation to do things. Its why I'm so glad I made these Christmas cards in September.

 

I'm slowly getting Christmas presents through now too and its so tempting to open them! Are you good at saving things for  Christmas day?

Project: Christmas Postcards

I've blogged about 6 postcards so far but I haven't even posted one of them yet! I went today and asked the man at the post office for some airmal stickers. He got me one sheet... erm... Can I have some more please! He looked at me really weird so I explained how I'd made my own Christmas cards this year and that I'd bought my stamps online as I know he doesn't stock that many. He just went thats so true as I use the printable labels more these day and I could have found a way to stick them on your postcards... yikes!!... they are half the size of the postcard so he would have had to stick them on the front the way I'd written the addresses. Also I already couldn't believe that he had stuck the postage label for my lovely letter on my cat when I'd actually left a space...he stuck the air mail sticker there instead. The only reason I know this is because my partner had posted a photo on her blog. I'm not there when he sticks the labels on as he does it all later when its much quieter, the women do it whilst I'm there and are usually really good with my stuff. He's a really nice man and so good with my niece, I haven't taken her for some weeks now and he keeps asking about her.

I ended up decorating the back of the postcards really simply. I used peel-offs, coloured pens and I wrote a simple tiny message of thanks along the bottom. Majority of the card was taken up with the address.

 

I bought my stamps online at the end of October but there was no mention of Christmas stamps in a higher price... they only advertised the UK ones. It wasn't until a couple of weeks later I was talking to the lady at the post office just saying I wonder why they don't make fancy stamps in the higher prices and she told me they did and showed me a sheet. I felt really annoyed as Christmas stamps would have added a little something extra to my postcards. I would have bought some and used these another time but the prices go up every April so I may not be able to use them again so its not worth it which is a shame.

Wondering around the shops I always love looking at the Christmas decorations, I actually feel a little sad at times that I don't celebrate it... even my own religious festival is boring as we just cook a meal and wear fancy clothes. Still at least I can take part this way...
