Project: Christmas Postcards

I have I think one more post after this one. We haven't had any snow settle in Bradford yet but we have had plenty of sleet. I'm not complaining though as I prefer it like this as the whole snow thing is only magical as its falling. However I hope that you feel these snowmen are worth it!

I made some confetti bags as an example for the children at work and had a lot of these strips laying around so I had to use them some how. I didn't bother neatening them so that they were all roughly the same or the same width generally. I think it just adds to the fun of the whole thing and I hope the recipient agrees.  I just love the vibrant colours.

I've never recieved a stocking before but I always imagine it must be fun to wake up as a child and to make your way through the contents of one and then to make your way through the presents under the Christmas tree. How spoilt everyone must feel!

Project: Christmas Postcards

As I mentioned in my first post, I have used every bit of paper possible when creating my postcards and decorating my envelopes. Whether I punched snowflakes or holes neatly or not into the paper, I still used them as it just adds a little something to your item whilst being eco-friendly too.

I don't know how I end up making things fussy when just wanting to stay simple but its fun seeing the end result of an item and hopefully its appreciated when it lands on someones doorstep.

This postcard has to be one of my favourites but I think its because I just love these little fairy girls.

 

I was disappointed not to have any Christmas trees in my collection so I couldn't help making this dancing one myself to use along with some cute deco tape that I've had for such a long time.

Day 31: Joy

This one I wasted so much paper on as I thought of desserts... aren't they always a joy! Then I thought flowers and sunshine... then the word joy and in the end I gave up and just did a sun using water colour crayons.

Day 27 & 28: Presents &  Hearts

I wasn't in the mood yesterday to doodle which was a good thing as I was able to combine the 2 days together to create this. I really love the heart shapes chocolate boxes you always see in cartoons so this was the prefect excuse to create one myself.

Day 21: Friendship 

I don't meet with friends anymore and people that I work with I only share small things with but my paper friends I share all the ins and outs which for some people is probably too much but I can't help it. I'm sure some of you can relate to this as even though I write insanely long letters some of  my friends are just as bad as me! This is a postcard I've doodled on.

 

Day 22: Dream  

We all have dreams and I think this quote describes them so well. Hopefully they will come true one day to put the smile on your face that your heart most desires! Most of the time its for those sunny happy days where everything just seems to fall into place. This one is an envelope that I've doodled on.

Day 20: Outside

Outside its snowing here but I really wanted to do a splashing in the puddles scene. The only thing is I imagined red shoes but got conned out by the colour on the actual felt tip as it shows a nice maroon red but it looks more of a brown. Then I wanted a bright blue but got a dark blue which again looked different on the felt tip. Overall though I'm happy with the way its turned out :).

Day 14: Brave

I was sat yesterday thinking these are getting harder as they feel so limited when suddenly ideas always pop in to my head making me realise they aren't so bad after all. In the case of brave my mind suddenly went to the care bears and I was convinced there was one called Brave Heart, instead I kept getting the man Brave Heart so had to type in carebears and was so relieved to see I wasn't wrong. I drew the lion but I didn't think it looked anything like it so didn't want to colour it and ruin it further so I left it drawn in pencil.

Day 10: Time When feeling Blue...

The more I look at the doodle I've done they are so child like. I've no idea if people are actually enjoying them but I am enjoying doing this project even though it is becoming more challenging to think of what to do for each theme.

 

I'm wondering if maybe I should back this on to pale blue/white card as it feels weird not having a border when all the others do.

Project: Doodle A Day ~Someone who inspires you~

 

 

• This year I haven't been well and if it wasn't for getting up early in the morning for her I would probably call in sick. The other thing is that apart from Ramadan I don't get up before 7am for anyone but her.
• I don't watch TV unless we are both curled up on the couch watching children telly.
• If it wasn't for her I'd be really slobbing out on the couch doing nothing but her persistant attitude in wanting to bake, paint and do other creative things means I need to think of new and interesting things to do with her.

There are so many other things too.....

 

Who inspires you?

 

I know my sun isn't so great, I had an idea in my mind but it didn't turn out like it.

Project: Doodle A Day ~In the Woods~

I was watching Mr Men with my niece this morning and they drew some trees similar to this which I really loved the idea of and wanted to recreate, well that was at 7.15am and 12 hours later I sat down to recreate it and couldn't remember exactly what they were like. I did the rough idea of it but choose to use the colours of the seasons of a tree. I absolutely love going to the woods but unfortunately don't go often enough... so it is 'my greatest adventure'. The vine at the top I imagined differently and actually looked better as an outline.

Project: Doodle A Day ~Favourite Letter~

Day 5: Favourite Letter

My first thought was not a letter of the alphabet but a letter in the post. I absolutely love them and I hope that there will never come a point where I have to stop.

 

I was then thinking of a letter... P came to mind for pen and paper but then I started thinking snail mail, stationery, sweets, sandwiches, stamps..... and my name begins with an S so that kind of outweighted the P... still every stamp needs a price and luckily we work with pennies/pence. I'd love mail 7 days a week but that's only wishful thinking!

Between the Pages of a Book is a Lovely Place to be!

 

I asked a friend for a list of loves which she sent me. I decided to choose the theme of 'Books'. I used a dictionary page, Paddington Bear rubber stamp and a book quote to go with the theme. I liked how the postcard turned out but the only thing I would loved to have done is to sew around the edges but I ran out of time as I hope to send this friend a card a month only February was days away so I wanted to get it out in time. I sent it in January but she got it today so I need to be better prepared next time!

I can't believe it is Christmas Eve already, Where have the days and months gone? Next week we'll be starting a New Year! That is really quite scary but hopefully it will bring a lot of luck, happiness and good health for everyone!

 

What has been the highlight of this year for you?

I hadn't planned on having a quiet week but things tend to happen in life that take priority but here I am again posting a couple more postcards that I sent out this year.

 

One thing I always loved at Christmas time is Christmas crackers, there was just something about that plastic toy, joke and paper hat that we all looked forward to. Also growing up I knew a couple of families that made Christmas crackers for a living at home. You had to have patience and space for such a thing as it took over your house as well as took some effort making (even though we thought it looked great).

 

Do you always buy a set of crackers to pop on the day?

Have you noticed I'm quite a bauble freak? I could honestly spend a day in a shop looking at all the amazing designs and styles. My brother-in-law had one hanging in his car and I always thought of doing the same but have never actually got around to buying one. Maybe I'll see that one bauble that I really must have even though I'm tempted to buy all of them.
